The history
The name Cannonball was founded by the adventurer Erwin G. " Cannonball " Baker, an American who holds 143 speed and distance records in the United States in the 1930’s, including crossing the States in 53 hours coast to coast in 1933 at an average speed of 50 mph.
He died a hero in 1960. Many people looking for the same adrenalin rush organised similar races in the 1970’s.
In 1981 the film, " Cannonball Run " with Burt Reynolds and Roger Moore told the story off an illegal race accross the United States.
